Whether you’re a first-timer or a partially certified ASA member, we provide the training you need to take your next steps in the certification process. Our experienced instructors are all ASA certified and Coast Guard licensed, and we won’t rest until you’re a confident and capable sailor.

Looking to book multiple classes or learn alongside friends and family? If so, we’re happy to offer significant discounts as you progress through your certification process. Each course comes with course materials, textbooks, and ASA registration included.

ASA 101 – 2 Day Course

ASA 101 includes a shortened ASA registration, and it will teach you the foundational skills you’ll use throughout your sailing career. By the end of this course, even beginners with no experience will be able to pilot a 35 foot cruiser in and out of the slip. You’ll also learn how to raise, lower, and trim the sails in daylight and moderate conditions.

We also offer a special discount and accelerated program with ASA 103. When you take ASA 101 & 103 with us, we’ll give you a $50 discount on both classes ($750 each) and get you certified for both in 3 days.

Sailing culture
Basic terminology
Navigating hazards
Helm commands & crew responses

ASA 103 – 2 Day Course

ASA 103 is the second class in the ASA certification process. 103 will teach you advanced sailing skills, giving you practice with essential onboard systems and teaching a holistic understanding of the boat. You’ll also learn the fundamentals of skills such as navigation, VHF radio operation, safety, and cruising sailboat terminology.

If you’re just beginning the ASA certification process, then you should know we’ll offer a $50 discount on both ASA 101 and ASA 103 ($750 each) when you take them with us. We’ll even put you on an accelerated course to receive certification in both within 3 days.

Anchoring
Seamanship
Auxiliary engine operation
Sail combinations under 33 knots

ASA 104 – 2 Day Course

This course explores boat systems in-depth and teaches the leadership skills to command a boat with confidence. In ASA 104, we examine a variety of systems in the boat and cover general maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency procedures. You’ll also learn how to manage boat operations and delegate crew responsibilities during a voyage. Finally, and winds willing, we’ll plan a trip to a nearby port and travel there using dead reckoning procedures.

ASA 105 – Take-Home Course (Fall 2025)

This is a take home class; unfortunately, we don’t get to go sailing for this certification. However, this class will teach you essential tools you need to take extended trips along the coast. It’ll also teach you how to safely navigate without relying solely on electronics, instead using nautical charts and magnetic bearings.

You’ll also learn to use essential navigation tools like:

Depth sounding
Local cruising guides
Hand bearing compasses
The USCG Navigation Handbook

ASA 105: $450

ASA 106 – 3 Day Course

ASA 106 is the culmination of what you’ve learned so far, and will require you to use the knowledge you’ve gained in all previous courses. In this course, you’ll get hands-on experience planning and executing an overnight sailing trip. This course offers practical training and is done in smaller groups in either Michigan or Florida.

ASA 106 teaches essential leadership skills such as:

Night sailing
Heavy weather tactics
Crew overboard drills
Advanced sail handling
